Overview:
Sun Java System ASP 4.0
ColdFusion
Sun Java System ASP 4.0 - Active Server Pages
ASP is Microsoft's answer to server-side scripting, and Sun Java System's
ASP technology is an exact functional equivalent to Microsoft's ASP
service, for Linux servers. The technology enables developers to dynamically
generate Active Server Web pages and use a variety of development tools
like Frontpage, Dreamweaver and GoLive, as well as a range of scripting
languages such as Visual Basic, JScript, C++, PowerBuilder and Java,
to create dynamic web pages and build Web applications.
Sun Java System ASP 4.0 allows the applications generated by popular
design tools and Microsoft Windows developers to be deployed on our
superior Linux-based server environment. This removes the dependency
of .asp on Microsoft Windows servers.
ColdFusion
ColdFusion has been growing in popularity since its inception in 1995
when it was introduced by the Allaire Corporation (which is now owned
by Macromedia). Today, it is used by more than half of the Fortune 500
companies. It's popularity comes from its ease of use and extensive
capabilities, including working with databases; interacting with the
Internet through FTP, e-mail, and HTTP; and much more.
Quick Notes about ColdFusion:
- ColdFusion and ASP cannot be enabled for the same account.
- ColdFusion can work with any ODBC compliant database as long as
it has been converted into the MySQL environment.
