Hosting Deploys ASP and ColdFusion to its VPS Platform
Apollo Hosting announces the availability
of Sun Java System ASP and ColdFusion on its VPS line of plans.
Sun Java System's ASP technology
is an exact functional equivalent to Microsoft's ASP service,
for Linux servers. The technology enables developers to dynamically
generate Active Server Web pages and use a variety of development
tools like Frontpage, Dreamweaver and GoLive, as well as a range
of scripting languages such as Visual Basic, JScript, C++, PowerBuilder
and Java, to create dynamic web pages and build Web applications.
Learn more about Sun
Java System ASP.
ColdFusion has been growing in popularity
since its inception in 1995 when it was introduced by the Allaire
Corporation (which is now owned by Macromedia). Today, it is
used by more than half of the Fortune 500 companies. Its popularity
comes from its ease of use and extensive capabilities, including
working with databases; interacting with the Internet through
FTP, e-mail, and HTTP; and much more. Learn more about Cold
Fusion.
ColdFusion and ASP are only available
on the Deluxe and Enterprise plans, and cannot be installed
on the same server. New customers can choose ColdFusion or ASP
by selecting the appropriate hosting plan when ordering.
Existing VPS customers may upgrade
to a ColdFusion enabled plan by submitting a request through
our Help
Desk.

hosting plan, please use our online

BigandTalltShirts.com
In this section we feature customers who are hosted by Apollo
Hosting, and have a very successful online business. These customers
have integrated products like Miva Merchant, Site Builder and
Get Traffic Toolbox. This month we interviewed Rhodana Fields,
Operations Manager of BigandTalltShirts.com
who tells Apollo Hosting about strategies that have led her
to a successful online business.
1. To what do you attribute your success?
The biggest factor with an online business is constant site
improvement and continuing to learn about the internet market.
There are incredible resources available on the internet and
a huge community of people who are willing to share their expertise
in forums and articles covering anything you need to know: SEO,
marketing, site design, HTML, and Miva Merchant. It does take
a commitment of time.
2. How do you market your site?
Our marketing efforts are mostly online, with a limited amount
of regional traditional advertising. Online we focus on good
search engine ranking, and use a sparing amount of PPC. We also
introduce our site to many people who maintain lists of niche
sites or specific directories. A solid foundation of these "smaller"
guides can really refer a lot of traffic to your site.
3. If you were to do anything differently what would it
be?
I almost wish we had started sooner. While proper prior planning
is important, so many of the internet business factors change
constantly and can only be learned by experience that waiting
for "just the right time" will only slow down your business.
4. How has your web hosting experience been? Perfect.
The service has been so reliable it has never taken our attention
away from the business. If we have any questions, there is always
a quick response.
5. Are you happy with Miva Merchant shopping cart software?
Absolutely, It is straight forward enough to get started immediately,
and powerful enough to meet even the most complex store's needs.
With the availability of third party modules, you can add even
very specific customized features for low cost and a minimum
of time.

| How
to Market and Build your Hosting Reseller Business
1. Submit your company's information to the key Web
hosting directories, many of which offer free, basic listings.
See HostDirs.com
for a comprehensive list of hosting directories.
2. Actively participate in the discussions on Web hosting
industry forums (i.e. WebHostingTalk,
the Web
Host Directory Forums and ResellerForums.com).
Be an information source rather than going for the hard sell,
follow forum rules and respond only to hosting service requests
whose requirements you can meet.
3. Do something-anything every single day to promote
and market your business. Make this your top priority, and the
first task on your to-do list every day.
4. Read, read, read. Subscribe to marketing lists, regularly
visit both Web Hosting and marketing forums, and stay on top
of both your industry and the strategies for effectively marketing
a business.
5. Swap Web links with other business sites whose products
and services attract a market similar to yours (a specialty
printer for small business, for example); you both stand to
gain new business through the arrangement.
