August 2006- Microsoft Windows' Most Utilized
Servers
by Shannon Margolis
The Windows Server System represents an integrated set of server software
developed by Microsoft, forming a solid infrastructure required for
operating with various network systems. Microsoft divides its server
offerings into four major categories: "Security", "IT Operations", "Applications",
and "Collaboration". The majority of Microsoft Server releases provide
support for Visual Studio, thus helping IT developers and designers
in the process of building effective solutions by using their own set
of tools.
Windows Server 2003 is a very reliable network server that
has been recently released by Microsoft and introduced in the front
line of server operating systems. The server was first released in April
2003, being regarded as a more competitive and powerful successor of
Windows 2000 Server. For a considerable period of time, Windows Server
2003 was referred to as “the .Net Server”.
Microsoft Windows
Server 2003 improves identity and access management, acting to reduce
storage management costs in the same time. It also includes a competitive
Web platform, offering cost-effective server organization solutions
to businesses. Microsoft Windows 2003 Server incorporates the technology
and the features characteristic to many previous releases into a single
system, thus offering users an extensive package of tools for data development,
data management and data security. With the release of Windows Server
2003, Microsoft has greatly simplified the process of network management,
also including improved data security solutions for many different network
environments.
Released in November 2005, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is
also considered to be an effective and powerful server, equally appropriate
for small and large enterprises. Microsoft SQL Server was built as a
relational database management system (RDBMS) that uses Transact-SQL
as the main query language. While most previous Microsoft SQL Server
versions were generally used for small and medium-sized databases, Microsoft
SQL Server 2005 is nowadays commonly utilized by businesses that work
with larger databases as well.
This new version of Microsoft SQL Server
accounts for improved data management solutions, the latest security
tools and enhanced access to enterprise data. Microsoft SQL Server 2005
has a solid, state-of-the-art integrated data management system, nowadays
utilized by organizations and business worldwide. The x366 and x460
technology integrated within Microsoft SQL Server 2005 has proved to
be exceptionally effective in four, eight, as well as 16-way configurations.
Along with Windows Server 2003, Windows SQL Server 2005 is a powerful
networking tool for businesses that work with simple or complex databases.
